Every parent nowadays is dependent on baby wipes as the most exploited tool for maintaining their child’s hygiene.
However, certain studies have proven that baby wet wipes are not the safest option when it comes to the child’s hygiene and parents should consider excluding them completely and look or better solutions.
Wet wipes are dangerous for the children’s health. Furthermore, NBC news stated in a report that wet wipes are not safe at all thanks to the ingredient called methylisothiazolinone which can contribute to irritations and rashes and a number of skin issues.
A professor at the University of Connecticut – Department of dermatology and pediatrics (Medicine), Dr. Mary Wu Chang experimented on various children, and was intrigued by the results.
One 8-year-old girl had rashes on her butt as well as around her mouth area. It was believed that it was caused by the usage of wet wipes which was proven when her mother confirmed the previous assumptions.
A dermatologist, Dr. Ellen Frankel claims on the matter:
“I always tell parents do not under any circumstances use diaper wipes. They have a lot of chemicals in there, and can irritate skin that’s already damaged sitting in urine, or feces, or sitting in a diaper that’s just got an inclusive surface on it.”
Make sure to always check the ingredients before you use the wipes on your baby’s gentle skin and if this preservative is present get rid of them as soon as possible.
